First Red Route Outside London - drivers see red

The Evening Mail (September 3rd) reports that drivers in Shirley "see red over crackdown". On the first Red Route outside of London along the A34 in Solihull it is reported  that "City police and traffic wardens have started clamping down on illegal parking". The article states that "Taxi drivers. motorists, delivery vans and even Securicor trucks were all spotted on the double red line" and there is a photograph of a Traffic Warden warning a Securicor driver.

Although it seems that police are initially issuing stern warnings to delivery drivers it is  also reported that "in the four days police have been actively patrolling the route, they have handed out 55 £30 fines."

Meanwhile on the A34 north of Birmingham the Express & Star (September 5th) reports that businesses in Bloxwich "fear new proposals for ... a red route could kill off business altogether...
