From the A461 proposed red route in Brierley Hill to the Borough boundary in High Street Quarry Bank but almost certainly planned to proceed through southern Sandwell through Cradley Heath, Old Hill and on to Blackheath, ultimately joining up with one of the Birmingham red routes (proposed).

While the present road system would see the road starting along Mill Street the major development plans which may include a by-pass and pedestrianisation of Brierley Hill High Street may see a somewhat different starting point. Although one does wonder that since the only real bottleneck on the A461 is Brierley Hill Town Centre, if this is redesigned what will happen to the original justification for the A461 red route (proposed).

Wherever it might start it would presumably cross over into and along Quarry Bank High Street.
