FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Ian Pearson, Labour’s MP for Dudley South today slammed controversial proposals for a Red Route between Dudley and Stourbridge.
Speaking to local party members and activists opposed to the Route the MP reaffirmed his total opposition to the plan.” The Red Route proposals needs to be shown the red light immediately.” Said the MP. “It would be hugely disruptive for local residents and a potential disaster for local traders and shop owners” he added.
Ian Pearson said, “Red Routes might work in London where car parking and obstruction is a major problem, however, this is not the case here in Dudley. The problem is not cars being parked along this route; it is the sheer volume of traffic, which causes congestion, in particular in the High Street, Brierley Hill where in a short distance motorists are faced with two sets of traffic lights and three pedestrian crossings. We need to look at alternative solutions, a Red Route in Dudley is totally unnecessary”
