Opened in October 2000 by Dr. Sonil Kalia, it has grown into a busy 8 chair practice with referrals from Dentists in South Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and rest of the UK. Dr. Kalia is also a specialist in Adult Orthodontic treatments. The practice is situated on Ecclesall Road in Sheffield. It is easily accessible by public transport and has ample free parking on surrounding roads.
This is a privately owned clinic which caters for NHS + Private Orthodontic Care.
Orthodontics is the treatment of crooked and mal-aligned teeth for both functional and cosmetic reasons. This is achieved with the use of fixed or removable appliances (braces) depending upon the problem. Toothcoloured and ‘Invisible’ braces are available on a private basis to both adults and children. (Please ask for a leaflet explaining Private Orthodontic Care either at reception or with an Orthodontist)
Orthodontics is concerned with the correction of the position of the teeth or straightening of teeth which are wrongly placed, to improve their function and the overall appearance of the teeth and face. In most cases a full course of orthodontic treatment will take 2-3 years to complete. During this period, visits for appliance adjustment are required every 4-10 weeks.
NHS treatment is available for almost all children under the age of 17. It is not possible for all appointments to be made out of school hours and these are naturally the most popular appointment times. Short appointments are reserved mainly for the afternoon sessions. Longer appointments, for example new patient assessments, the fitting of appliances or retainers will normally take place in the morning sessions.
Treatment outcome will be directly dependant upon following all instructions given, attending all appointments and wearing the brace at all times. Orthodontic appliances do not damage teeth or gums if they are properly looked after and kept very clean. Toothbrushing must be of a very high standard both before and during Orthodontic Treatment. If this standard drops, then treatment will be terminated. It is essential that you continue to see your regular Dentist at least once every 6 months whilst Orthodontic Treatment is on-going.
Private treatment allows patients to take advantage of the latest techniques, technology, equipment and convenient appointment times. Private Orthodontic Treatment will be offered to all adults and to children under the age of 18 who require re-treatment due to previous non- compliance. It is also available for under 18’s upon request please ask for fee details. Private treatment is open for all age groups. Private clinics are held at specific sessions in the week, although patients are free to attend at any time with prior appointments. Please talk to our receptionist to arrange a consultation to assess the options for Private Care.
Payment for Private Treatment can be made in many ways. The fee can be spread out over the first 12 months of treatment or if paid in full at the first fitting appointment a discount will be applicable. Finance is available and all major credit cards are accepted.
The first appointment at the practice is necessary to obtain records of the teeth such as X-Rays and Study Models and an assessment, followed by an appointment to discuss treatment options. Once the brace has been fitted, subsequent appointments will be at 4 to 10 week intervals dependant upon the type of brace. We endeavour to see patients at their allotted time; if you are kept waiting there is usually a very good reason. Please be patient. Please let the surgery know as soon as possible if you cannot keep an appointment. Missed appointments waste our time and yours, it also prevents someone else being seen. Therefore a small charge will be made if you do not give reasonable notice (within 24 hours).
Please let us know if any of your personal details change e.g. address, telephone number, Dentist. Please also inform us of any changes to your Medical History.
If you are unhappy with any aspect of our service please ask to speak to one of our managers in confidence. They will provide you with a copy of our complaints procedure. |
