Portable data entry
Information such as downtime or scrap can be entered at any PC using a web browser or on portable devices such as a PDA. The PDA provides a flexible and cost effective solution to data entry in a factory environment and gives the opportunity to provide staff with information from other sources such as stock control or sales orders. Where there are concerns over security of such a device the units can be mounted in a secure cradle which also provides power. Or they can be 'locked down' where they will only run certain applications and therefore make them useless on the open market. The devices can also be made to cause an alarm on the central system if they go off-line.
