What is PhotoChat?

PhotoChat is one of the really cool things on the Chat. All you need is a recent photo of yourself, then you get access to lots of new functions. You have access to some special chatrooms that are only for photochatters.
Your photo will be used instead of your normal chat icon. You can also use your photo when you write personal messages on the Chat, even though the one you are sending the message to is not a photochatter. No matter where you are on the chat, you have a special window with photos off all the photochatters in the room so you can see who it is you are chatting with!

When you do a search for other chatters, you now also get the option to only look for photochatters if you wish that.

Photochat is for those wanting to show their face to others, so remember that your picture has to be an up-to-date picture of yourself, where one clearly can see your face.

How to upload a Picture

To put a picture in your profile you must first save it it on your computers' hard drive. (Normally your C:\ drive).

Please remember that the image you upload should be a .jpeg file and NOT .bmp or .psd.

Go to your Logbook and select Photo Album. In the next menu, press the New Picture button and follow the instructions given to you.

Please bear in mind that before your picture is uploaded onto the live system it has to be approved by one of the Navigators.
This may take up to 48 hours.

Once your picture has been approved on the chat, you will receive the following message:

Navigator Info tells you: Your picture has been approved for PhotoChat.

Problems with Photo's or Graphics

If you get an error uploading an image to your profile or your photo album, the problem is likely to be one of the following:

The image isn't in a format supported by the Chat. You can use these formats: .jpg .gif .bmp

The image may be too large. You can´t upload images larger than 500 kB to your album.

The file name contains illegal characters.

If the size on either side is bigger than 420 pixels it will be resized to fit the album. If you're uploading a GIF animated picture this can cause loss of quality.
