Amp have been in existence, in various different formations, since 1992. In this time they have released a number of albums to glowing praise from musics' undeground press - "Amp have created a soundtrack that actually attempts to address their imaginary film they are scoring…” (Christopher Porter, Alternative Press 1996), "Amp is the most beautiful band currently in existence…” (Eric Kowalski, Millk 1997.) Their sound has been descibed as "...folk melodies in oceanic effects...", and "...glacial beauty..." (The Wire). In 2000 Amp signed to Space Age Recordings, and are currently working on mixes for their 5th studio album entitled ‘US’. The new album marks another development in their sound to one which is bolder and more direct, with additions of new members on drums/programming, guitar and saxophone, helping to create extra sonic spaces.
