AUTOKAT
Autokat’s first official output the double A side ‘The Driver’ / ‘Television’ is a rip roaring slice of beat driven guitar psych that can’t fail to move your feet. Formed in Manchester, Autokat housed themselves in the cities suburbs developing their own unique sound and ideas. Guitarist Andrew Rowley remembers fondly “The first gig we did, our set was at about 1am and the aA lads were pottering around taking the posters down off the wall. There was just one guy sitting in the middle of the room clapping and cheering us on… I’d love to know the identity of that man!” Fast forward to 2005 and Autokat play to euphoric audiences in rammed hotel bunkers, were on board for European excursions and are regularly giving the likes of the Nine Black Alps, The Longcut and Loose Canon a run for their money at the best parties in town. ‘The Driver’ is pure pounding sonic momentum which sounds genuinely exciting, flip the record over and ‘Television’ is angular punk pop at its finest. A twisted take on staying in and staring in front of a flickering screen.
