London-based four piece, [cultureindustry] formed in early 2002. Since then they have been playing regularly at various venues including the Garage, the Water Rats, RoTa and the Underworld, with bands such as Oceansize, Amplifier, X Is Loaded and Apartment. Building on the innovations of British art-punk and US avant rock (PiL, Joy Division, Sonic Youth, Slint), [cultureindustry] fuse the dread of dub with an aesthetic of repetition derived from the Velvet Underground, Neu! and The Fall. They have a single due for release through Static Caravan Records, the double A side 'DJ Ascetic Loves Himself/Recognitions' a little later this year.
