Levy is a four-piece band from New York who have been together for almost two years. Front-man James Levy – he of the heartfelt lyrics and Morrissey-esque croon - cut his teeth as a solo artist on the Lower East Village circuit alongside the likes of Moldy Peaches, but formed the band after a fortuitous meeting with guitarist Matt Siskin convinced him to form a band. In 2005 the band have already had the prominent magazine ‘Relevant’ tipping them as ‘ones to watch’, and they’ve got songs featured in the new Scottie Marshall feature film Lucky 13 and the young adult drama Love 15. The band will be appearing at this year’s CMJ in New York, and have just signed to One Little Indian. Levy release their debut album, Rotten Love, on One Little Indian on October 3rd, preceded by a single on September 19th, "...an onstage swagger from the Billy Bragg school of rock, while the band offers punk-sized beats and stripped-back guitars. But James’ Morrissey-esque croon and heartfelt lyrics betray his tough-guy stance: he’s really a silky-voiced bitter dreamer, whose passion is reflected in his songs." (Mary Huhn)
