Lowbrow were formed in 2003 over a couple of pints in the Artillery Arms in East London. After a successful debut private gig in London, the band has gone from strength to strength, drawing crowds of 70 and more at gigs, and more at festivals. The attractive mix of climactic rock and tuneful ballads appeals to fans across the board, from Coldplay to ACDC. Shannon’s confusingly feminine name masks a belter of a voice which ranges from delicately tender to the rasping roar reminiscent of Reef. Kev’s stunning guitar solos are only marred by the fact the gigs are generally restricted to 30 minutes, and Si and Jon provide the traditional stability of drums and bass, but enlightened by inspiration beyond the norm. The band are going into the studio for October: this is a real example of see them before they are famous.
