Following on from an amazing gig at The Water Rats earlier this year, Midlake are returning for another show. Midlake was conceived in the small, quirky Texas town of Denton. Five distinctly unique musicians from the North Texas School of Music worked together to invent and reinvent a sound, tapping into an arsenal of technical skill and unbridled creativity. Soon enough, Simon Raymonde stumbled upon a copy of their early EP and fell deeply in love with the band, signing them to his label, Bella Union Records. Playing across Europe in festivals earlier this year, the band continue to overwhelm crowds with their original sound : a delicious psych-pop tone combined with emotional complexity and textural innovation, somehow both uplifting and melancholy, invigorating and calming. The new album, Bamnan and Slivercork, is out now on Bella Union records.
