Born and bred in the squaddie-infested Essex town of Colchester and nearby Chelmsford, NeatPeople are a refreshing, young band with a new, very English sound that takes in Dexys, XTC and Talking Heads by way of fellow townsmen Blur. Influenced by the remarkable in the mundane, ‘by motorways and aeroplanes and friends and boredom and trees and computers and sheds’, this is the sound of the suburbs indeed. The band recorded three tracks last Autumn with Parisian producer Dimitri (previously responsible for production duties on The Raveonettes’ ‘That Great Love Sound’), but guitarist Marc’s car crash shortly after halted all recording and live activity for six months. The band are now fully fit and battle-ready.
