It’s becoming increasingly difficult to categorise music by REVERE. You’re likely to hear fragments of everything from achingly simplistic lullabies to full-on unrelenting walls of sound. Both live and on record, they immerse their audience in their feverish approach to layering up such diverse influences as Jeff Buckley, Bjork, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Mogwai, Carl Stalling, John Zorn, Nino Rota… REVERE have recently expanded their line-up beyond the conventional “tried-and-tested” - incorporating trumpet, violin, cello and percussion - but it has never been REVERE’s intention to fit in with convention. The resulting songs pulse with a density of ideas… a sound both intimate and cinematic in its scope, fusing melancholic words with euphoric music. In a musical climate lazily looking to the past for brief flings with excitement REVERE stand out as a band writing music set solidly in the now… “Revere contain diverse elements of just about any band you can think of and play with an intensity, energy, charisma and plain captivating weirdness which goes to making most other bands look just that little bit pedestrian!”– Edinburgh Evening News
