SIMON MASTRANTONE
While sitting in a caravan on his parents drive, Simon began his musical life listening to old tapes of Queen and the Blue Oyster Cult. After discovering the Dead Kennedys and Bad Religion he co-founded the punk band Academy Morticians (www.academymorticians.cjb.net) which took up the next five years of his life. After 2 albums, 2 EP's, 4 labels and more members than Spinal Tap, the band parted company and Simon discovered the joys of playing by himself. Inspired by Tim Buckley and Birmingham bar room blues, he took his angular melodic pop to new places armed with only his old Fender and his newly found voice. He will release and tour his debut solo EP June 2005
