Sekura-Byk Limited has acquired the exclusive rights to this cycle parking system in the United Kingdom after having noted its considerable success at Belgian Railway Stations. Belgium Rail have purchased over 2000 cycle stands in the past 8 years and are currently introducing the system into more major railway stations in such cities as Bruges, Antwerp and others with high levels of cycling. More importantly, their customer research has shown that users are very satisfied with the system, as far as security is concerned.

Not only does the system meet customer needs, as far as it is controlled by an industry-standard Smart Card, but it has enormous potential for integration with smart-card ticketing to achieve high levels of service delivery as part of a broader package.

The base, which supports the lockable bike stands, consists of a profiled steel plate. Each individual stand is formed from a rectangular steel tube, which carries a unique bracket.

The console that houses the control unit is again made from a steel sheet. The control equipment is a swipe card reader. The swipe card is a pay card. When the card is inserted into the reader the time of arrival is registered. When the bike is collected the equipment also registers the time of departure. The difference between the two determines the parking fee. The amount due is automatically deducted from the swipe card.
