Aims

CHOICES aims to support the development of ‘sustainable communities’, by developing a more cohesive and inclusive approach to learning provision.

"Sustainable communities meet the diverse needs of existing and future residents, their children and other users, contribute to a high quality of life and provide opportunity and choice."

The focus of the network is initially on learning relating to 'essential skills' (ES), i.e. basic literacy, language, numeracy and information and communication technologies (ICT). However it is hoped that, in time, other learning provision will be included.

CHOICES aims to make it easier for people to build their skills in places that are familiar and 'safe'

We will do this by:

Helping organisations to identify and develop opportunities for 'embedding' learning into other activities

Developing inter-agency work to help bring learning opportunities to where people are and to make it easier for people to move between organisations and courses

Promoting the learning opportunities offered using the 'CHOICES' brand

Every organisation who joins CHOICES will receive a personalised sign. Their details will be included on this website and in other network publicity

CHOICES aims to enable and promote the inclusion of any agency, in any sector, who want to be involved and has a commitment to developing and widening the participation of adults in learning

We will do this by:

Providing FREE training to help organisations support learning more effectively

Helping organisations to develop partnerships if they need to

Identifying and disseminating good practice so that organisations can learn from each other

How it works

There are three levels of membership for organisations :

organisations who can provide initial screening of learning needs and basic information and advice about learning opportunities

organisations who can provide 'tasters' and more in depth assessment of learning need

organisations who can provide longer programmes

There are criteria for each level of membership to ensure the quality of the services people receive. Any organisation wanting to join the network will be supported in meeting the criteria, either in their own right or with a partner.

...and then we will help you to do it!

CHOICES is overseen by Warwick District Community Learning Partnership, a sub-group of the Local Strategic Partnership.
