To access the GB7LF repeater the D-Star radio must be programmed with GB7LF B (GB7LF space space B) in the RPT1 position to allow access, this being a UHF repeater. Anything else will not work. There is no time out in stand alone repeater mode, though when Internet linking is provided most systems have a 3 minute time limit for the over. D-Star does not use CTCSS. On access the callsign of the connecting station is forwarded plus any short personal details message included. On completion of the over the receiving radio will emit a short beep to denote completion of the transmission. Repeater periodic beacons are not used or required with the system.

When Internet linking is installed at a later date separate operating instructions will be provided which will be applicable to the software system used.
