The 22nd Paisley Company The Boys’ Brigade

Ex-Members Association

Scottish Charity Number SCO39372

Are you an Ex-member of the 22nd Paisley Company or of another Company? If so did you know that you can become a member of the Association attached to the 22nd Paisley Company. The Association was formed shortly after the Company’s Centenary in 2005. An Informal Dinner and AGM are held each year in the Ralston Golf Club Paisley, and this year the proposed date is Saturday 24th October. Each member receives a Newsletter twice a year giving details regarding the Companies work and activities, and Information on Events being held in The Paisley & District Battalion as well as The Brigade nationally.

To celebrate the 125 years of The Boys’ Brigade a number of Events have been held and the final event will be an Exhibition of 125 years of Brigade activity within The Museum High Street Paisley.  This will be from 24th September to 24th October 2009.

Cost of membership of the Ex-members Association is £12 p.a.. Each year we have been able to give a donation to The Company to assist with some of their running costs.

Why not come along sign up, join with us, meet up with friends, and make new ones.

BOYS' BRIGADE UPDATE

The 22nd have had a busy first few months in session 2011/12.

I was delighted to be presented with a cheque for £750 from the 22nd's Ex-Members' Association at their AGM in October.  The support of our ex-members (which includes ex-officers and others with a BB connection) is fantastic and a great credit to the impact the 22nd has made on so many lives over the years.  On the same evening, we were treated to an interesting presentation by Chris Nelson, ex 22nd member and Captain of the Scottish hockey team at the Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games. If you are interested in joining the Association, please contact Ella Caldwell (secretary).

The boys are getting back into the swing of their activities and enjoyed a special fireworks display on 4th November (managing not to accidentally set the manse on fire for another year!).

Also in November, our Company Section cross country team were bronze medal winners in the Battalion Cross Country Competition in Barrhead - a great result considering they were at the younger end of the competition age range.

We are off to the Paisley Players' panto in Gallowhill Community Centre on 9th December and are looking forward to that (OH YES WE ARE!).

The following day (Saturday 10th) our boys working towards the Queens' Badge are organising and hosting a Coffee Morning, as part of their "service to the BB" work towards the badge.  Tickets priced at £1.50 will be available from the Lower Hall as intimated in the intimation sheets.  I hope you are able to join us.

We are again running our ‘Christmas Card Delivery Service’ within the Parish, for the very competitive price of 25p per card or 5 for £1, which will go towards Company funds.  We will be collecting cards on Sunday 11th and Sunday 18th December (and also at our Coffee Morning on Saturday 10th).  Most deliveries will be carried out on or just after Sunday 18th.  Delivery boundaries are Paisley Cross to the west, Gallowhill to the north, Hawkhead Estate to the South and Ralston to the east.

Many thanks to all who have made the first few months of the session possible - most particularly my dedicated team of Officers who are simply fantastic.

Very best wishes for the festive season.
