SHERWOOD GREENLAW CHURCH

32nd ‘A’ Paisley Brownie Pack

The 32nd  ‘A’ Paisley Brownie Pack is held in the Sherwood Greenlaw Church Halls (Lower hall) on Tuesday night from 6.15 p.m.  till  7.30 p.m.

We are also known as the Tuesday Brownies.

Brownies are for girls aged 7  to  10 years old.

There are 5 leaders at present, who give either a full time or part time commitment, and are vetted by Girl Guiding Scotland  i.e. Disclosure Scotland.

As  a unit we try to give the girls a varied programme of activities every year, with the ultimate goal of earning badges and having fun without too much hard work involved  (the girls gain badges and don’t know it)!  We also have outings to ten-pin bowling, a pantomime at Christmas, outdoor activities  and church parades.

This year the theme (or Adventure as we call it in Brownies) is China, due to the recent Olympics and the success of Team GB.

At present the girls have been making Olympic torches and preparing for their Opening Ceremony, therefore gaining work towards the Craft and Agility badges.  Throughout the year we will be learning about the Chinese culture and when Chinese New Year approaches, we will have a Closing Ceremony, with sampling of some Chinese food.   With the spirit of Team GB, six will also be ‘going for gold’ by gaining Gold Stars for extra commitment in keeping their promise, and at the end of term in May, we hope to give medals.

Although there are five Guiders, as a Unit we would appreciate any one who would be willing to become a badge tester or pass on any skill to the Brownies or could be available to help out on occasions.

Further information can be obtained via the Church office.

The Brownie Guide Promise

Brownies make this simple Promise that they share with members around the world:

I promise that I will do my best:
To love my God,
To serve the Queen and my country,
To help other people
and
To keep the Brownie Guide Law.

The Brownie Guide Law

A Brownie Guide thinks of others before herself and does a Good Turn every day.
