Meeting Time

Sunday mornings 11am from September to end June

Mission

The Christian education of children within the church family  + parish + occasional visitors. Our aim is to help the children learn the Good News that  God loves each one of them and that His Son, Jesus Christ, is their Saviour.

Organisation

Currently using Scripture Union material, “Light” – this is divided into 3 monthly programmes, which follow themes, and this material is split to the various age groups –

The range includes Bubbles for under 5s, Splash! for 5 to 8s, Xstream for 8 to 11s, Light Years for all age worship. The Light range includes CD-ROM audio visual resources, a Bible Timeline and specially written songs and music for worship

We encourage the children’s  participation in worship during family services and our annual Christmas Nativity Service. We also try to have regular articles in the Church magazine including JC Corner, which includes word searches and puzzles.

The advantage of the teaching  material  we use is that all our classes are covering the same biblical theme. By following this programme, we can also advise the Minister(Mr Cameron) and Pastoral Assistant (Fiona)  of our intended programme and we provide them with the All Age Worship resource book and CD, which enables them to follow our theme and programme when delivering the children’s address

The teachers meet regularly to discuss the material but so far, the leaders have found it easy to use and the most important thing is that the  children really like it. We have also had good feedback from parents.

Special Project

We encourage the children to learn about the needs of others and ask them to be involved in fund raising or collection of gifts for others in need. Last year we collected over 100 shoe boxes of toiletries which we delivered to the Blythewood Christmas Appeal for distribution in Eastern Europe.   Through our collections and other fund raising efforts, the junior church has committed to the sponsorship of a child in Africa. The children regularly correspond with this young lad.
