SHERWOOD GREENLAW CHURCH
Child Protection Policy
The Church of Scotland takes very seriously its responsibilities under the Protection of Children (Scotland) 2003 Act. It has a Safeguarding Office which developed from the Church’s Child Protection Unit. This plays a major part in the growing and on-going work of child protection training and assisting those who work in outreach with children. This unit helps to raise awareness about child protection issues and hosts a range of events throughout the year. In addition, the unit highlights the latest news and updates to child protection legislation in Scotland and the UK.
In compliance with Church of Scotland policy and Disclosure Scotland procedures, Sherwood Greenlaw Church fulfils its responsibilities by maintaining an up-to-date register of all persons who work with our young people and by promoting the relevant training of its workers with youth.
“It is the responsibility of each individual within the fellowship of the Church to prevent the physical, sexual or emotional abuse of children and young people…”.
