Bookings and Fees

How to book a baptism, wedding or funeral

Baptisms and weddings can be booked in person at the church office on Monday evenings between 7.00pm and 8.00pm. No appointment is necessary. Baptisms are usually booked about two or three months in advance. Weddings should be booked at least a year in advance to ensure the time and date required.

Funerals are arranged after the family has visited a Funeral Director who will make all the necessary church arrangements.

St Mary's West Derby warmly welcomes those who live within the parish boundaries to approach the church with requests for Baptisms, Weddings, Wedding Blessings and Renewal of Vows, and Funerals.

However if you live outside the parish we will ask you to approach the vicar for the parish in which you reside. If you then decide that you wish to have your Baptism service at St Mary's their permission will be required. To get married at St Mary's if you live outside the parish boundaries you will normally need to be admitted to the electoral roll, and this will, require regular attendance for a period of at least 6 months.

However from 1st October 2008 a New Marriage Measure will come into operation, which is explained in the document below:-

CHURCH OF ENGLAND NEW MARRIAGE MEASURE OCTOBER 2008.

If you have any questions please come and ask the staff at the office hour on Mondays from 7pm to 8pm.

We are currently in the process of restoring the gardens to their originally intended state.

This work has been commenced after numerous expressions of concern from relatives about the deterioration of the gardens.

Only flowers will be permitted in the gardens and these are to be placed in the troughs by the plaques.

Several plaques have been sent away for restorative engraving.

We apologise for any movement of tributes, if there are any memorials you wish to retrieve, please do so.

The intention is to restore the gardens to their state of beauty and tranquillity and to provide a fitting resting place for relatives to visit.

June 2008.
