ACCOMMODATION
at VILLA KRITI
our
home in the Apokoronas Region of Western Crete
Villa Kriti is located
200m above sea level on the outskirts of Vamos, a traditional working Cretan
village, and offers two spacious self contained studios.
Situated at the end of a
track, at the top of a quiet rural hillside, Villa Kriti enjoys spectacular
views of the White Mountains (Lefka Ori) and Souda Bay.
The hillside is home to a herd of goats, several birds of prey, rabbits,
hares, lizards, geckos and many smaller forms of wildlife.

We are an English couple who fell in love with the Apokoronas region of
Crete when we first visited.
We decided there and then to make our home here and were lucky enough to
find a plot of land on this beautiful hillside on which Villa Kriti has been
built. It has been our aim throughout the design and furnishing of the studios
to offer high quality accommodation with the added bonus of a swimming pool at a
reasonable price for those wishing to experience the true magic of Crete.

|
Both studios are west facing, with views over
Souda Bay. Tucked into the hillside, on the ground floor, they remain cool
during the day but benefit from the afternoon sun, and are perfectly
positioned for watching the sun set over the mountains from their own
tiled terrace. |
|
|
|
| The
open-plan studios comprise sleeping area with twin beds, living area with
sofabed (suitable for 1 person), fitted kitchen with dining area and
separate shower room with walled shower area AND British Plumbing (you can
flush toilet paper down the loo!!)

The
studios are furnished with everything essential for a comfortable visit,
including pure cotton bed linen, plenty of hanging and drawer space for clothes,
a 4-ring ceramic hob, electric kettle, toaster, fridge with freezer compartment
and of course plenty of crockery (including a teapot), cutlery, glassware and
cooking utensils. Tea towels,
dishcloths and washing-up liquid are also provided.
|
| |
|
|
| The
swimming pool faces the White Mountains to the south and is bathed in sun
from dawn until sunset. The
water depth ranges from 1m in the shallow end to 1.9m in the deep end,
making it unsuitable for diving but ideal for taking a leisurely swim or
relaxing on a lilo. The pool
is surrounded by tiled terraces which provide plenty of space for
sunbathing whatever the time of day and the perfect setting to watch the
mountains change colour from red to orange
to pink in the morning, then to pale grey/almost white in the
afternoon. The highest mountain peaks usually remain snow capped until
early June - a stunning site
whilst soaking up the sun or cooling off in the pool. |

Villa Kriti offers a real country hideaway as well as an excellent base
from which to explore Western Crete.
Choose
from lazing by the pool, watching the world (and the goats) go by, even painting
the fabulous landscape, taking a gentle stroll into Vamos (20-30 minutes) to
sample the fare of the 2 tavernas and several kafenions, or venturing further
afield to the towns of Hania and Rethymnon, the archaeological sites of Knossos
or Phaistos, the gorges of Samaria and Imbros, and many, many more places of
interest.
