In June 2002 a new Karate school started inBoth Justine and Phil began their Karate training through another Karate club in Whitstable; but both felt it had begun to loose its way. A decision to start the Whitstable Karate Kai was a difficult but necessary one to be made.
Both had teaching responsibilities at their original club; and Phil also run his own class for the club and therefore had experience of the administration responsibilities needed to run a Karate class. Even so, there was a big difference between running a single class and a new organisation!
The decision was finally made, and they branched out on their own; this would give Justine and Phil the ability to set the agenda for the new school, ensuring high standards would always be maintained. It also allowed them full control over the syllabus content allowing it to develop as the school developed.
