Winthrop Park have won the prestigious UK
Community Project Award for our outstanding
support and service to the community. This Award,
run by the Nationwide Building Society, was
announced at the Tower of London on the 11th
November and presented to trustees Carol and
David Bowser by the BBC’s presenter Nicholas
Owen. Winthrop Park was short listed from over 1,600 charities and projects from
across the UK and Ireland, with 96 of the best invited to the ceremony in London.

Winthrop Park has been approved and commended for
The National Garden Scheme, and will be published in
their “Yellow Guide” book for 2009. We have agreed to
set aside a special day (Saturday 1st August) to help
raise money for the Cancer Charities they support..
Admission on this day will be £2. Open 10am to 5pm.

Our Fashion Show was opened by our honorary
patron Lord Scarbrough, who along with Lady
Scarbrough and John Healey MP joined a packed
audience to enjoy a fantastic show put on by
Carol Ann Fashions. The evening raised an
amazing £2,106 for Winthrop Park. Thanks to
all our volunteers and supporters.

Winthrop Park have scooped the prestigious
Gold Medal Award in this year’s Rotherham
In Bloom award ceremony, which was hosted
at Winthrop Park on 23rd September. The
Award was presented to Robert by the Mayor
of Rotherham in recognition of the hard work
and support of all the Volunteers
and helpers at the Park.

Winthrop Park have also won the HBOS Foundation
Community Action Award for the Yorkshire region following a
nomination by the Halifax Building Society in acknowledgement
of our support of the disabled and elderly, and provision of the
Sensory gardens for all the community to enjoy.
