The Skills Chart section of the RIAS directory contains seven categories of skills. Within these categories Wylie Shanks claims expertise under the following headings.
Conservation and Restoration
The principal is accredited in Conservation Architecture with RIAS as a level C practitioner. The Practice has considerable track record of refurbishing and restoring buildings within Conservation Areas, including work within the specially designated area of Park Circus in Glasgow. In some cases it has also been involved in conservation of buildings designed by the practice soon after it was founded in 1912.
Design Services
Office and commercial interiors, including office planning are particular areas of expertise and the firm has a comprehensive record of office interiors for a wide range of users.
Legal Problems: Building Failures
Feasibility Studies are included in this category and the practice has developed great skill at carrying through Feasibility Studies at great speed and with innovation and accuracy.
The principal is a Fellow and is registered with the R.I.A.S. for expert opinion and mediation.
Within the other categories of Construction Technology, Energy and Landscaping the practice considers itself competent in most of the sub-division headings and where expertise is not available from the firm the appropriate service can be arranged through one of the many specialist consultancies with which the firm has a close working relationship.
