It is the Policy of Wylie Shanks to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and general welfare of its employees while they are at work either in an office environment or involved in site activity. Awareness of health and safety matters extends to the impact on third parties with whom or for whom the firm may be employed. Wherever possible the firm applies the spirit of the Health and Safety at Work Act, and the Offices, Shops and Railway Premises Act. The practice encourages employees to participate and contribute to the use of safe working practices.
The firm is also aware of the need to comply with the Construction, Design and Management Regulations 2007 in the provision of architectural services. A statement of competence in this respect is available on request. Senior personnel are certified clear by Disclosure Scotland at Basic level.
The principal is responsible for Health and Safety issues and is a qualified CDM Coordinator. To supplement this policy statement, a detailed policy with safety notes is available separately.
