ABOUT US

A view of our countryside showing a mixed group grazing

Situated in the beautiful Vale of Glamorgan, our primary enterprise is farming cattle and sheep on around 250 acres of land.

Having bred a number of part bred QH foals as a hobby, we decided that we would buy a purebred filly to keep as a brood mare.  This turned out to be Chipadee Reignlady (Queenie) shortly followed by Seren Magie Joe, the latter arriving in foal and producing our first purebred QH baby.

In 2003 we took the plunge and imported Classical Blue Babe (Blue, sadly now deceased) and, early in 2004, Gunners Blue Dandy (Pinkie),  both grey and both from the well known Wolfe Ranch in Oklahoma.  The next year these were followed into the UK by Ms San Leo Rojo and Fancy Napoleonette, the latter now with the Clapp family in Devon.

Our most recent brood mare acquisitions were both imported from Canada in 2007.  These are both red dun overo Paint mares, it being a long held ambition to have some Paint babies running around, a desire now fulfilled!

These mares, along with some part bred and non QH mares, form the nucleus of our breeding programme but, of course, no stud with this number of mares would be complete without a stallion and we are no exception.  In 2004 we had the opportunity to purchase our buckskin QH stallion Tinsel King aka TK.  He is crossing on our mares very successfully, producing gorgeous offspring with a large proportion being palominos and buckskins for those of you who favour a splash of colour!

Our aim is to produce quality horses with wonderful temperaments and the ability to be good all-rounders and/or fantastic leisure horses with excellent conformation and soundness.

Peggy Sue and Donald get acquainted!

Our horses usually live out all year round and are kept in as natural an environment as possible. This makes for a hardy, well adjusted horse who will take you anywhere! All the horses are sociable and are regularly handled. However, don't expect a perfectly groomed horse if you visit!  We allow our horses the benefit of woolly coats in the winter. Few are rugged and most are very "au naturel"!!

It goes without saying that Quarter and Paint horses are THE choice for Western riding, but for those of you who enjoy riding under English saddle, I regularly rode Do Bee A Margarita aka Willow (pictured doing an over enormous jump below) in this way (up to her current pregnancy) and see no reason why Quarter and Paint horses can't compete and participate successfully in traditional events such as jumping, hunting, showing, etc.  They take most things in their stride and usually adjust easily and readily to new situations.  Quarter and Paint horses are also emminently suited to pony racing, mounted games, polocrosse, etc as they are devastatingly fast and have the ability to quickly speed up and calm down.  Both breeds are also a good choice for TREC competitions as they have such trainable and sensible dispositions.

Our palomino foals usually mature into a good solid colour and most would be eligible for registration with the British Palomino Society.  This gives them another avenue for competition opportunies.

We usually have quality foals and youngstock for sale.  Please enquire for further details or more pictures.  We welcome enquiries and try to offer a friendly, honest service, taking pains to match prospective buyers with the right young horse.  If you would like to visit (by prior arrangement please) we are easily accessible - only 10 minutes from junction 34 on the M4, about 40 minutes from the Severn crossing and 10 miles west of Cardiff.  There are two other breeders in the immediate vicinity so it is well worth making the visit to see the variety of horses we have on offer.

Please bear with me for updates on this website - I feel it more of a priority to care for our animals than spend time on the computer!

Give us a try - Wales is a wonderful place for Quarter and Paint Horses and you won't be disappointed.
