Mike Whellans returns to Brookfield livewire bluesband!
Last time Mike Whellans played in Brookfield Village Hall, every jaw in the room was wide open and dropping floor-ward.
Whellans is a veritable one-man live-wire blues band featuring crisp, fast, accurate flat-picking on acoustic and electric guitars, wild blues harmonica and his own highly idiosyncratic speciality - mouth percussion. He sings and writes too.
It’s a seeing-is-believing deal that has held audiences spellbound across Europe.
Promoters normally sell his shows by declaring: “You’ve Never Seen Anything Like This Before”.
Think they’re kidding? …Well think again.
He has toured extensively, played big festivals in America, and appeared on TV music shows countless times.
Now he is back touring in the UK, to promote a brand new album, released on October 13.
Thursday, October 16: Mike Whellans: The Old Library, Kilbarchan. Tickets, £12, from 01505-706070. Please note this is a BYOB event. |

The KDS tradition continues with an Autumn production, staged in Kidston Hall on Thursday 27th, Friday 28th and Sat 29 November 2008 . The Society has decided to dedicate the endeavour to honour, to celebrate, the memory of Neil Adams.
The play, for the Autumn, selected and prepared by Haydn Davies , is Neil Simon’s classic ‘Barefoot in the Park’. For health reasons, Haydn has had to withdraw. Shona Laird is prepared to assume the director’s mantle . Her viewing public, who have enjoyed her performances in many K D S plays , will be delighted to learn that she is prepared to take charge of this classic play.
Audience members may recall that Seona delighted her many fans and recruited new converts with her performance as ‘Scotch Doris’ in the Kilmacolm Society’s 2007 Autumn play ‘Good Things’ by Liz Lochhead directed by Geraldine McCullough
