Airframe Designs Ltd (AFD) is a UK registered limited company, established in 2005 to provide a stress analysis capability for the aerospace, space and rail industries.

Evidence of the continual shortage and high demand for experienced stress engineers were the catalysts for the formation of AFD.

A further catalyst was the desire of aerospace and rail OEM's to out-source to a greater extent in order to improve efficiency and enable consolidation in the respective industries. This offers AFD with great opportunity to share and promote this vision.

AFD aims to grow healthily over the next few years in order to become the ideal stress analysis partner for medium sized aerospace companies, railstock and lightweight structure engineering companies..

The core business of AFD is the delivery of stress analysis work packages (WP's). AFD operates on a flexible basis and will adapt to the client's needs to enable work package definition and delivery to be carried out efficiently.

Four parallel activities that set AFD apart from other companies are:

• Provision of training courses for less experienced stress engineers
• Supply of experienced contract engineers across all engineering and manufacturing disciplines
• Capability to perform specialist FEM analysis (MSC DYTRAN & MARC non-linear simulations)
• Capability to perform HAND CALCULATIONS and ability to train others to do so.
