AFD has the capability
to perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) with access
to a range of aerospace standard analysis tools including
MSC NASTRAN, PATRAN, DYTRAN and MARC.
Experience over many years in the field of aerospace
design has enabled AFD's
consultants to gain valuable knowledge across many different
types of analysis including the more widely applied
linear static, normal modes (vibration) and linear buckling
analyses to the more sophisticated areas such as non-linear
buckling, direct transient analysis, crash prediction,
contact and birdstrike analyses.
Various levels of the FEM capability can be offered
from simply executing a supplied model for the provision
of analysis results through to the provision of the
'total' capability that includes: model generation;
pre-processing (checking & de-bugging); model execution;
post-processing; and, in some cases, model validation.
Support to structural test programmes that require
extensive FEM validation investigations is also available
with advice on appropriate techniques for test article
instrumentation (strain gauges and deflection sensors)
to enable a successful validation campaign.
FEM training courses can also be provided for both
the beginner to the more advanced user covering topics
from 'FEM Basics' through to 'Advanced Non-Linear Analysis
Techniques'. The modular design of the courses is aimed
at tailoring courses to suit the needs of our clients.
