AFD has the capability to perform calculations and support structural testing programmes for both metallic and composite structure (carbon fibre reinforced plastic / honeycomb).

AFD's consultants come equipped with:

• A good understanding of analysis methods applicable to the strength, stability, durability and testing of both metal and composite structures and an appreciation of the differences in structural behaviour exhibited by metal and composite structures.



• Many years of experience in the application of traditional methods for analysing both modern and aging air vehicle structures at various stages of the design phase (concept phase through to certification) and also to support in-service fleets.



• Sound awareness of potential problem areas in the design of airframe structures and the ability to promote good design practice when sizing parts.



• Knowledge and experience relating to the development and qualification testing of metal, composite and hybrid structures at the coupon, sub-component and full-scale levels.
