Frequently Asked Questions
Are the
deck lights easy to install?
Yes,
a tradesman should find no difficulty in installing the lights in a deck. Each
light is prewired and designed to connect to together via the IP67 connection
in a 'daisy chain' fashion. All electrical work involving mains electricity
should be dealt with by an approved electrician.
Will
the lights last a long time?
Yes,
the LED's used in the lights are rated at 100,000 hours estimated life.
How bright
is the light output from the deck lights?
The lights are designed as marker lights not bright spot
lights. To try and give a more specific idea please consider the following :-
The light output from each white LED deck light is approximately 10-12 candela.
Although not a direct comparison it is sometimes considered that 1 candela =
equivalent of a 2 watt light bulb, so on that basis the deck light is about
as bright as a 20 watt bulb. Light is always relative to the backround level
of darkness.
Can
these deck lights be used on driveways and do they have glass that can break
when impacted by chairs etc?
The deck lights do not contain any glass, and the components are in solid potting
compound and UV hardened clear resin. These fittings are designed for drive
over / walk over installations and should not be damaged by furniture legs.
Will
these deck lights work in countries outside of the UK?
In the majority of situations the answer is yes. The
box set of deck lights come with a power supply that converts the voltage of
mains electricity into 24v that the lights run on. Consequently you would need
to know the voltage of the mains electricity supply in your area so that we
could supply you with the correct power supply.
What
is the maximum number of deck lights that can be powered from the standard power
supply that comes with a box set?
25 deck lights can be run from the standard power supply.
How much
do the deck lights cost in US dollars?
All the deck lights are priced in Great British Pounds
and all transactions are done in that currency. When you pay by credit card
the card company sorts out the currency conversion. You may find the website
www.xe.com useful as a free tool to work out an approximate cost of the lights
in your local currency.
