Sir Kyffin Williams
Was born in 1918 in LIangefni, Anglesey,
North Wales and studied at the Slade School of Art 1941-44.
He was elected Associate of the Royal Academy in 1970
and Royal Academian four years later. In 1982 he was awarded the OBE for
his services to Art and Knighted in 1999. His familiarity
with Wales is expressed
in his drawings of farmers and animals. His strong landscapes and stone farmhouses
echo the deep feelings he has for his beloved Gwynedd countryside. In 1968
Sir Kyffin was awarded the Winston Churchill Fellowship to record the Welsh
community in Patagonia.
