In June 2007, BSCC was awarded a grant of £10,000 to expand and modernise our fleet of club boats. This will improve the quality of boats our athletes have available to them and enable them to be competitive. The BSCC squad is open to all paddlers who are keen to improve their technique and overall fitness. Most recently Stortford paddlers have tried out for the GB squad and been selected for national junior squads. Chairman Gary Aldam says “We are keen to give everyone the chance to participate and be competitive both locally and nationally. Our goal is to give all our paddlers the opportunity to be the very best they can.”
Awards for All England make grants of between £300 and £10,000 for people to take part in art, sport, heritage and community activities, and projects that promote education, the environment and health in the local community. A4A is supported by the Arts Council England, the Big Lottery Fund, the Heritage Lottery Fund and Sport England.
