Highlights of the season included winning the Huntingdon Hasler Marathon (2009 series). We finished the Hasler series as 3rd in the Eastern Region, which qualified Bishops Stortford to take part in the National Finals at Reading where we came 13th.
The BSF Lightnings also did well in marathon and sprint. In marathon, Isabelle Gurney won silver at the Hasler finals in u10 girls, and Emily Gurney won bronze in u12 girls. The team was 3rd overall at the National Hasler Finals, and (according to provisional calculations) came 4th nationally across the series (Geoff Sanders Memorial trophy).
At the 2009 National Marathon Championships (Longridge, 26-27 Aug) there were golds for Leanne (under-23 ladies K1) and Paul & Jim (over-44 MC2). Rachael Pinnock was selected to represent GB in Gudenaa in September 2009, and came second in under16 girls K1.
