Top Club & Clubmark

In 2007, BSCC became accredited under Clubmark and recognised by the British Canoe Union as a Top Performance Club.

Clubmark is a scheme put in place by Sport England to set standards for clubs regarding child protection and safety, quality coaching, equal opportunities and good management.

Since the scheme was set up in 2002, the national governing bodies of 35 different sports have adopted Clubmark and in many cases integrated it with their own sport-specific schemes. In the case of canoeing, the British Canoe Union have incorporated the core standards of Clubmark into their TopClub scheme, so that clubs can gain accrediation under both schemes at the same time.

By taking the time to work towards and achieve Clubmark and Top Performance Club, BSCC has shown its commitment to the wellbeing and progress of its junior members.
