Internet Research
Vast
quantities of historical data are becoming available on the internet,
making access to the information needed for family history easier
than ever before. The most important of these are the censuses
taken every 10 years since 1841 and the national indexes to births,
marriages and deaths. However, getting the best out of these
resources still requires a good understanding of the records,
as well as skill in finding and using electronic sources.
If you don't want to spend long
hours at a computer screen in the process of finding your ancestors,
or if research on the internet has left you baffled, I can do
the research on your behalf.
What does it cost?
How much your research will cost will depend on how many generations
of your family you would like to find. Please contact me for
a no-obligation discussion of your needs and an estimate. I recommend
paying in stages, so that you can reevaluate the research as
it progresses, and let me know which line(s) you would like me
to pursue next. My charges are based on a rate of £10/hour,
plus any costs such as the purchase of certificates from the
General Register Office, materials (printing or CD) and postage.
