Selection of European Enamels

The Continental enamels being produced in Vienna and Russia in the latter part of the 19th Century were of the highest quality.  In Vienna there was a great use of rock crystal or glass, which adorned elaborate enamelled silver mounts.  And in Russia, highly decorated enamelled objects such as the Kovsch (pictured above centre), cigarette cases and boxes made in silver and decorated in Niello or Cloisonné.
