THEFT OF vehicles in the Netherlands is starting to
show signs of improvement due to initiatives by the
NPC. Recovery of stolen vehicles too, is getting better
with the introduction of Global Positioning Satellite
Tracking Systems. Of course these are prohibitively
expensive at this point, so most people rely on relatively
simple immobilisers.
THEFT FROM
vehicles though, is no better at all and many crimes go
unreported, making it even more difficult for official
bodies to get to grips with the problem. If "theft
from vehicle" figures where included
in the government statistics, the figures would be truly
horrendous!

Between 1996 and 2002
there were 213,890 vehicle thefts in the Netherlands.
Needless to say, this figure does not take into account
the enormous number of theft-attacks which did not result
in the loss of the vehicle. Of all the vans stolen, two
particular makes accounted for almost half of the total
number stolen....

Mercedes and
VW are particularly susceptible to theft attack and
this shows very clearly in the above graph. Despite bold
security claims, Ford too, frequently fell foul of
the thieves! This picture is virtually identical the the
UK - the top-selling lock protection systems are those for
the Mercedes Sprinter, VW LT and Ford Transit.
Some regions suffer
more than others and although the map below is only a
"snapshot", it does give some idea of the areas effected
most by vehicle theft....

The Netherlands is a
country which has enormous potential for the sale of
Armaplate's unique and patented security products. It
represents a vast, untapped market and the company
which is awarded exclusive distribution rights will be
rewarded with a potentially huge customer base.
If you believe that
your company is capable of handling the marketing,
distribution and sales of Armaplate products in Holland,
