Lake Titicaca means "stone puma" in Qechua and is the legendary birthplace of the Inca gods whose advice to mankind was:
Ama suwa, Ama quella, Ama llulla (do not steal, do not be idle, and do not lie)

It is the highest navigable fresh water lake. at about 12,500 ft or 3,820m asl.
Maximum depth is about 900 ft or 280m (NE corner), the average depth is about 650ft or180m.

Length is about 108 miles or 175km. Width 40 miles or 70km.
Narrowest navigable point Tiquina Straits 800yards or 750m.
Dived by Cousteau, sailed by Tristram Jones, inhabited by kilifish, catfish, trout and a large frog,
and is the headquarters of the Bolivian navy and outport of the Peruvian navy.
