Trujillo, population 700,000, is about 300 miles north up the coast from Lima and about 3 miles from the Pacific. It is said to be the second largest commercial centre, after Lima but as the buildings are rarely more than five stories and there is little sign of a financial centre, it seems like a more usual Pervian colonial town. Very lively and busy. Main archeological sites are Chan Chan, Huaca del Sol y de la Luna and Sican. Food is good.
