Being a Girl Guide
is about enjoying yourself in a group, learning new
skills, making new friends and having a good time. Each Girl Guide
sets her own agenda - whether she wants to concentrate on indoor
activities, badges or even expeditions, it's up to her...
Girl Guides find their own level in the girl guiding association and
do the best for themselves, and always have fun doing it.
I like Guides as it a chance for you to make new
friends and catch up with old friends. Guide meetings are really
enjoyable as you get to try out new stuff.
I especially like going on camps and having the campfires.

Activities at guides are entertaining and exciting so far from last
year we went to the Big Gig, camp, Gang Show London and many more.
At guides we have many activities we have the opportunity for
sometimes using the computers. On chill out nights we are able to do
what we like for example playing games, listening to music, going on
the computers, chatting to our friends and watching films.
The Baden Powell Challenge Badge is the final badge
you can work towards. This badge includes planning and working on
activities sometimes for the whole unit. I am working on my badge
these are some of the things I have done, organised a rainbow party,
working on this website, try out a new activity mine is rock
climbing, I also have to help raise some money to go on the Baden
Powell adventure weekend to finalise my badge.

How does a Guide gain
a Challenge Badge?

Girls complete two Go For It! badges with their patrol and help
decide what they do. Working in a patrol and making decisions will
develop many life skills.
Guides gain the following from their involvement with their Patrol:
listening skills
increased confidence
leadership skills
cooperation
giving and receiving support
tolerance
trying new things
making decisions
communication skills
how to express opinions
how to be a team member
taking on responsibility

In guides when you
are about 12 maybe 13 years old you will be able to start your Baden
Powell badge. It is up to you if you want to do it, but it is good
if you do.
You have to do many
things to complete your Baden Powell. You get to go on camps, trips,
and do fun activities. You will also have to attend the meetings
were you discuss what activities you want to do to help achieve your
Baden Powell. You are always in groups so you are never on your own.
