County Badge of Bristol and South Gloucestershire...

The Redfield Rangers

The Redfield Rangers are the Redfield District’s Senior Section Unit.  The Senior Section is for girls aged between 14 and 26 and offers many new and exciting challenges within Girlguiding UK.

We’re a very busy and active unit, taking part in both unit and County Activities regularly.
Unlike the younger Sections, Rangers do not work to earn badges but we work towards Awards, which we can gain by demonstrating a wide range of skills.

In recent years, many of us have gained our Chief Guide’s Challenge Award, which is earned by challenging ourselves to learn new skills and then sharing them with others.

There are lots of opportunities available to Rangers, some of our unit members have been on International trips to experience Guiding in other countries, some of us have taken part in UK based events and many of us help in Rainbow and Brownie units or help to plan events and activities for other members.

YUMMY... YUMMY...

The Redfield Rangers were founded in 1999, meeting once at week.
We plan our activities for each term, which can range from crafts to learning activities to evenings eating chocolate!!!

We are part of the Bristol and South Gloucestershire County Rangers
and take part in county activities such as the annual duck race when 500 bright yellow ducks
are thrown into the river Frome with the first past the post the winner of £50!

We work towards the Chief Guides Challenge Awards, which consists of 8 Octants covering all sorts of areas such as personal development and independent living.  Once a girl has completed her challenge she attends the County AGM and is given her certificate by the County Commissioner.

Over 50 Rangers from the Bristol & South Gloucestershire County Rangers Guides lent a hand in support of Barnardo’s children’s charity by handing out the medals, bottled drinks and heat blankets at the finish line for the Bristol Half Marathon.

So far the event has raised over £50,000 for the charity.
