Breathing Life AwardsWe are really proud of Caroline who won the Adult Fighting Spirit Award in the Breathing Life Awards. She was presented with her award at the London Hilton during a special evening with a host of celebrities. The awards celebrate the outstanding achievements of inspiring people that have CF. A big thank you to all at Blackburn Rovers who made it possible for us to present our cheques on the pitch before the game against Man City on Sunday. Our target was £20,000, but we had so much support and everyone was so generous that our final total was £30,000! We presented cheques for £10,000 each to Natalie for Cystic Fibrosis, to Megan for Pendlebury Children's Hospital and to Gaynor for The National Autistic Society.
ReunionOn our recent trip to Portugal we stopped off in Lisbon and met up with Manuel and Ze from Lelo's team. Gifts were exchanged, a cricket bat and hard ball for Manuel and Ze and customised Lelo's team shirts for us. We spent an excellent evening with them recounting our recent adventures, lots of happy memories. Sorry to the girls who had to listen to the 'Africa Tales' again and to make it worse, this time in English!!! The (Disco Diva) DiscoveryWe have updated news on the Disco Diva. It was the finale of the last auction on the 4th March and was sold for the huge sum of 250,000 dalasi, which is about £5,000. This means that the Gambian Charities will have loads of money. The breakdown of money raised is now available The Disco was bought by an NGO (Non Governmental Organisation) who is a member of ASSET (see P-B website for more info). This group are making solar ovens and giving training to local people. The happy ending is that Malcolm's group have raised enough money for a special 4x4 for the audiologist and technician (SoundSeekers). They are going out with their family, two children aged 1 and 3!!!! and will have one of the 'bangers' as a run around whilst they are there.
A big thank you to all at Blackburn Rovers Training Ground for their interest and help. Especially Mark Hughes, Morten Gamst Pedersen, Rovers TV and Radio Rovers, Sky TV Crew, Granada TV Crew, Reporters and Photographers, The Bee and especially Paul Agnew who made it all possible.
