Early days.

One of my passions is making videos. It started as a passion and involved martial arts competitions, where I would film all our club's fights and make a long film of them set to a mad techno soundtrack. Everybody loved the treatment, so I made more. I then successfully made several videos of various World Championships.

Having begun, I began to let my imagination run free. Using an idea from a student, I wrote, directed and managed to be in a six minute short called "The four-fingered phantom" With Martial arts, Freddy Kruger lots of special effects and a wild Rock'n'roll soundtrack, it was the single most exciting thing many of my students had done.

Six of us then got a part in a scifi film to be made in the Lake District by a director who had worked on Star Wars and Time Bandits, how could we refuse. "Alien blood" was stylish, imaginative and violent. While making it we had to perform for a documentary made by Border TV which won an award. I had to drop from a high balcony six times to get them their shots. This led to another news piece filmed simultaneously with the making of a music video for Kendal band Shine, whose single "Telemetry" was in the film. A few clips will be available next week.

The best was yet to come, with our 84 minute epic "Foreverquest" A sword & sorcery epic that gave us the perfect vehicle for our Martial Arts talents and a chance to try special effects in and out of camera, including burning bodies and magical appearances and disappearances.

We came back to earth and reality with a cute short for a film competition, it's called Guest List, and the story is about a bunch of likely lads who roll up to the night club in a Porsche and have had a bit too much to drink.

The whole film is available now, so click on the name in the left bar.

We have just completed two film projects>>>

We were approached by a film director to put two fighters in a short showpiece music video.

Friday Night Fight Night was a great showcase for Liang Yang and Dale Noble. I ran second unit camera and appeared as a drinking buddy to Liang. Two guys with a history decide to settle their differences in a pub car park, and the fight is a long spectacular battle with acrobatics and extreme kicks flying. Some good stuff was cut to fit in the cutaways to Lions, a core idea for the movie. The final versin is not available yet.

The trouble with Wizards is a Badco production, starring a cast of Budokan students and a host of special effects. All filme in our Japanese garden, two groups of Wizards get in a strop about who will win the spell battle, the results are hilarious. No fisticuffs, but lots of fireballs and lightning make it a visual effect feast, and some of the acting is really great.
