The Grand Charity
Festival in 2009
Updated 29th October 2008
Thanks to the untiring efforts of our Charity Steward (and his willing helpers) and the many members who have qualified as Festival Stewards, Vice Patrons or Patrons, the Goffs Oak Lodge is proud to announce that it is now a Grand Patron of the 2009 Festival.
Since early 2003 our Province of 'Happy Hertfordshire' has been concentrating on raising money for the Grand Charity. This will culminate on Saturday, 13th June 2009 when the Provincial Grand Master presides at the Festival dinner at the New Connaught Rooms, Great Queen Street, London.
Although no targets have been set for individuals or for Lodges, the Provincial Grand Master has indicated his belief that the Province as a whole could raise in excess of £3 million for the Grand Charity by June 2009.
To encourage Brethren and Lodges to focus their charitable
giving
towards the Festival the following qualifications have been announced:
When a Brother's total donation to the 2009 Appeal reaches £200 he becomes a Festival Steward, receives a certificate from the Provincial Grand Master and is entitled to wear the 2009 Festival jewel at all Lodge and Royal Arch Chapter meetings within the English constitution up to, and including, the Festival dinner.
When his total donation reaches £400 he becomes a 2009 Festival Vice-Patron.
Once the total donation exceeds £800 the Brother becomes a Patron of the 2009 Festival.
It should be remembered that every individual's donations also count towards his Lodge's qualification as Vice-Patron, Patron or Grand Patron, gained when a Lodge has donated £5000, £10000 or £15000.
