'Does It Again' (twice !)

At our Installation meeting on 19th November 2005 the Goffs Oak Lodge was proud to 'do it again' !
For the second year running W.Bro. Brian Tierney MBE PSGD, APGM was with us to celebrate our Installation meeting.
At the Installation meeting last year the lodge had presented W.Bro. Brian with a contribution towards the Grand Charity's 2009 Festival. This year, before W.Bro.S.R.Taylor installed his successor into the 'big chair' he had the privilege of presenting a 'big cheque' when, ably assisted by our Treasurer, W.Bro.R.C.Gibbs, he handed over another contribution, this time for £3,500.
This was only possible because of the unstinting work of our lodge Charity Steward, Bro.P.M.Twaites, who, in this his first year in office, managed to cajole over £4,000 from our members (and our ever-willing families and friends).
Not to be outdone, the Goffs Oak LOI then surprised W.Bro. Brian with another cheque towards the 2009 Appeal, this time for £1,500. This was presented by W.Bro.Gibbs and the Assistant Preceptor of the LOI, W.Bro.P.Farrell.
W.Bro. Gibbs, who is also the Treasurer of the LOI, explained that he had found the money "lying around in the LOI account" to which W.Bro. Brian swiftly replied "I like money that is just lying around !"
Later in the meeting W.Bro. Brian kindly agreed to 'sing for his supper' by presenting certificates of appreciation from the RW.Provincial Grand Master to those members of the lodge who had qualified as Patrons, Vice-Patrons or Stewards of the 2009 Festival.
