Many Lodges hold a Ladies' Night which is the main social event of the Masonic calendar.
On Saturday 1st May, our Worshipful Master, Brother Peter Best and his Lady, Pam greeted 120 friends, old and new, to the excellent Swallow Churchgate Hotel in Old Harlow, where everyone was treated to an excellent meal, fine entertainment and some great company.
Many people took the opportunity to stay at the hotel and relaxed in the indoor swimming pool and spa before the evening started and again after breakfast on Sunday and as the week-end in question was a Bank Holiday, everyone had the Monday to recover !
A well organized raffle was held after the meal and, because this was a Ladies' Festival, the Worshipful Master and his Lady wanted the money raised to go the Miscarriage Association which provides essential support to people touched by pregnancy loss, something close to a number of peoples' hearts. Over £1,500 was raised for this cause - a truly magnificent result.
Pam and Pete had the support they completely deserved and are to be congratulated on such an enjoyable occasion, as is Worshipful Brother Peter Farrell, the Festival Secretary who ensured that the whole event was a complete success.
